Why is it important for students to register to vote?

It is important that students register to vote, so that they can have their say in elections. Once you have registered to vote you will be eligible to vote in the upcoming election and any other election or referendum that might be arranged.

What do county councillors do?

Councillors are elected to the local council to represent their local community. They engage with the local communities, representing their interests, championing their causes, improving service planning and delivery and furthering the council’s contribution to the quality of life of people in Cumbria.

The deadline for registration for this election is Thursday 13th April. It only takes a few minutes to register at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote  and you will need your National insurance number and date of birth.

You may be registered at your home address and  this is fine but students are entitled to be registered at both home and term-time address as long as you only vote once in any particular election.
