For the attention of Carlisle students – Cumbria Police safety message

Two incidents have been reported to police in Carlisle over the last two months whereby a lone female has been approached by a male driving a grey hatchback car.

On both occasions the male (who was a stranger to the female) attempted to entice her into the car. The male was insistent but thankfully on both occasions the female ignored the man who made off in his vehicle. He is described as being in his thirties and has a local accent.

Advice from Cumbria Police is for females not to walk alone whenever possible and if approached by a male matching this description not to get into the vehicle. Police also urge anyone who has been involved in any similar incidents to contact Cumbria Police on 101, or 999 in an emergency, with as much detail as possible.
