Mentoring

We would like to invite you to take part in a focus group in Carlisle (Fusehill Street) next week (Tuesday 3rd or Wednesday 4th May) to hear your views on a potential new mentoring scheme to be set up by the university.

The focus group will take up no more than 30 – 40 minutes of your time and we will provide you with a delicious FREE Domino’s pizza for lunch!

The Careers and Employability team, Alumni Relations Officer, Student Enterprise team and the Students’ Union are very keen to set up career mentoring for the benefit of our students. The idea being that a student would be matched to a mentor who was working in an industry or position that they aspire to.

The mentor would be somebody from a local business or an alumnus, somebody who has studied at the university on a similar course. We believe there are a great many benefits that mentoring can bring to students such as; building a professional network, developing and enhancing skills, increasing confidence to speak to senior professionals and gaining a better understanding of the link between education and future career.

We would be very keen to hear your views on the project. If you would like to come along to our focus group please email your name along with your student number and course details to adam.lewis@cumbria.ac.uk by the end of this week (Friday 29th). Please indicate whether the Tuesday (3rd) or Wednesday (4th) session would be best for you.

Thank you very much for your time.
