Social media

The university’s social media policy for students has been updated and is available from this webpage.  It is your responsibility to follow this policy whilst at university; here are a few key points:

  • Be professional and behave responsibly at all times – not just when using social media networking sites but also other web and mobile services.
  • Respect the privacy and the feelings of others at all times.
  • Students on programmes overseen by a professional body need to take particular care when online – never reveal any client or placement information.
  • Inappropriate online communication can ruin your future – you may not be able to continue on your course and many employers use social media to select and reject candidates.
  • Follow this policy, and associated guidance, for your own personal safety and to protect yourself against identity theft. Never reveal personal details about yourself or others and be particularly careful with your banking information.
  • Be aware of what you are posting. Who owns that image? You need to consider intellectual property rights, copyright and ownership of data when using social media.
  • Follow the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Be safe online and keep others safe.
