At the start of the 2018/19 academic year we set out to conduct a democratic review with the views and expectations of our members at its heart. Fundamentally, we wanted to create a democratic structure that is relevant, appropriate and adapts to the needs of our membership.

Our research showed that there is a clear need for us to distinguish between the different campus communities within the University of Cumbria and engage students on their terms. As we had hypothesised, clear, simple processes which engage our members across the entire student populations are important and provide a solid, democratic foundation for our work for, and by, the students of the University of Cumbria.

The proposal currently being voted on in The Big Vote came as a result of this research. You can read the research reports and project documents below.
