Eco Warriors Schools Project

Eco Warriors Schools Projerct is a GO!

Eco Warrior Schools is UCSU’s first ever Schools project which got off to a flying start in the Summer of 2015! The project focuses on engaging UCSU students and primary school children  in sustainability, through activities such as planting their own food and exploring their local environments.

This is a great experience for all students, whether you are interested in working with children, the environment, sustainability in general, project management or just want to get involved in something a little bit different!

UCSU will be providing training on project management and workshop design to all those who would like to be involved! Volunteers will be supported to design, develop and deliver bespoke workshops for the Primary School children.

Where it all started...

In the Summer term of 2015 a group of fabulous volunteers took their bespoke workshops into Bowerham Community Primary school in Lancaster to work with their Year 1 pupils for the day. The children learned all about different seed shapes, how to plant them and what a seed needs from the environment to grow - not to mention producing some beautiful drawings of what they think their seeds will look like! Bespoke activities also took place in a Primary school in Ambleside

When asking the children what their favourite part of the day was they replied “Everything!” – A successful day all around!

If you would be interested in getting involved in this type of project in the future, please contact Kati - kati.brown@cumbria.ac.uk
