Citizens Advice South Lakes  is looking for telephone advisers.

The role is a varied one and the services we provide include dealing with issues such as:

  • Welfare Benefits
  • Debt
  • Employment
  • Relationships & Family Issues
  • Housing
  • Immigration and many more.

Volunteers will benefit from comprehensive free training in a varied environment, where everyday presents a different challenge and different issues faced by local people.

No experience is required as full training will be given although a genuine positive approach to helping others and being a good listener are skills which will be required for the role.

Volunteers will be supported by staff on duty and can expect to work within a supportive team environment.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to gain extensive training and develop new skills whilst providing an advice service on various lifestyle issues.

Key responsibilities

Answering telephone calls and taking initial details from members of the local community looking for advice. Assessing the details provided and giving informed advice using various forms of information available. Inputting all data recorded onto internal systems and updating advice given to client. Directing clients to other forms of assistance where required or making follow on appointments with specialist caseworkers.
