We are a local Independent, Free , Impartial and Confidential advice service. We have offices based in Windermere, Kendal and Ulverston.
Our twin aims are to provide advice to the general public on a wide range of topics including:
Welfare Benefits, Debt, Employment, Relationships and Family Matters, Housing , Immigration and many more
We campaign locally and nationally to bring about changes in policies, procedures and legislation which affect peoples lives.
Alongside our general advice service we have specialist caseworkers dealing with Debt and Welfare Benefits. Macmillan (cancer care) support and also pension advice.
We work in partnership with other organiations and can make external referrals on behalf of clients.
Citizens Advice South Lakes is looking for telephone advisers.
The role is a varied one and the services we provide include dealing with issues such as:
Volunteers will benefit from comprehensive free training in a varied environment, where everyday presents a different challenge and different issues faced by local people.
No experience is required as full training will be given although a genuine positive approach to helping others and being a good listener are skills which will be required for the role.
Volunteers will be supported by staff on duty and can expect to work within a supportive team environment.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone to gain extensive training and develop new skills whilst providing an advice service on various lifestyle issues.
Minimum commitment level: Once a week
