Exam stress

With Exam season upcoming, its common for students to experience stress relating to their exams. Stress is a normal process for us to experience, and it can help us rise to the occasion and excel at what we do! However stress can have a detrimental effect if the pressure builds up to much. Here are five ways to help you prepare for your exams and manage your stress.

1) Recognise how far you have already come
Whether you are studying for undergraduate or postgraduate exams its important to realise how far along your journey you already are! By remembering all the positive moments and achievements you have already experienced during your time at university can help boost your confidence and reassure you that you have got this!

2) Work out what makes you stressed.
If you are experiencing stress, its important to figure out what is causing it! By identifying the problem, you can prioritise sorting it out. This could be as simple as focusing your revision on that module you found slightly trickier than the rest!

3) Get organised
Creating a schedule is a great way to manage your time, meaning you can fit everything in to your day. By allocating time it ensures that you don't spend to long on one task resulting in burn out! It also means that you can take regular breaks providing time to relax and refuel. Setting realistic goals in your schedule is a great way to progress your revision, and don't forget to reward the small victories!

4) Make time for you
By making time for things you want to do can recharge your batteries, meaning that when you go back to work you can be doubly productive and get lots done in a small amount of time! Exercise is also great way to recharge your mental wellbeing and keep your body in good shape to.

5) Get support
Lastly remember people are there for you! Use your support networks like your family, friends, and your tutors, your friends could be experiencing the same things. Studies show that revising with peers is an effective revision technique and can boost information retention! University wellbeing services are ready to help you providing confidential professional support when you need it.
