Tean

Tean will be taking up office as your Activities Officer this July. We sat down withTean to get to know her a bit more and find out what attracted her to the role and what she is looking forward to!

What did you do before coming to the University of Cumbria?

Before joining the University of Cumbria to study my BA in Outdoor Leadership, I was working as a part-time carer and pilates teacher during the Covid pandemic. I applied to study through the University of Cumbria for the fells and stayed in Cumbria for the people.

That's awesome! What kind of things to you get up to in your spare time?

In my spare time I enjoy exploring new places and landscapes on foot and by bus, building dens, camping in the hills, and spending quality time with friends.

What made you want to run for office at UCSU? Why did you go for your role?

Studying at university is a lifestyle commitment which brings with it a lot of demands on the way people live and function day to day. Although everyone’s experience at university is different and unique, it’s fair to say that most people struggle from time to time. Having people with similar values, hobbies, interests and memories is an amazing way to stay connected to the local uni communities and beyond and have fun enjoyable experiences together!

I ran for the role of UCSU Student Activities Officer this year because I am passionate about making the most of social life at university. I am excited to meet people and find out their skills, interests and aspirations so that we can work together to run a range of socials and events over the next year.
