What are the Elections?

UCSU Elections give you the opportunity to decide who represents your views. Each year, students nominate and elect fellow students to a variety of positions within the Students’ Union, such as EXEC representatives, who meet 4 times a year to discuss and make decisions on student ideas and the paid full-time Officer roles. This ensures that students are the leaders in shaping how UCSU operates, and how we represent the views of our members to the University and beyond.

Why are they important?

It’s important that you have a say in who represents you, so we use democratic elections to choose the people that will speak, campaign, lobby and act on your behalf. There are several candidates for each position, and you can view their manifestos and campaign material by clicking on the link next to each candidate picture so that you can make an informed choice about who best reflects your views.

How can I get involved?

Every student at the University of Cumbria can stand and/or vote in our Officer and representative Elections.

Why does UCSU use the ATV system?

UCSU, like many students' unions use the ATV system because it elects candidates that the majority of voters agree on, even if it was not their first choice. Check out more information on this voting system and others via the Electoral Reform Society
