Here at UCSU, we're constantly creating new groups to facilitate the interests of our students. Last year, we created more than 10 new societies, many of these set up by our new first year students.
What you need:
- Two or more students to form the group committee
- A meeting with our Groups Coordinator, who will talk you through managing group finances, setting up events, and promoting yourselves
What we provide to groups:
- A Start-up fund of £75 to new groups upon reaching three members
- Three rounds of Group Grants where all our Groups can apply for up to £500 in funding
- Exceptional Grants to help with one-off expenses and purchases
- Connection with the University to book on-campus space
- Help in booking transport and external event space
- UCSU approved events benefit from our insurance tailored to Group activity, ensuring all group members are covered
Most Group members should be University of Cumbria students but with prior authorisation from your Groups Coordinator, external members can also be accepted. If you wish to do so, please let us know and we will send you further information and advice.
