text saying your students union

University of Cumbria Students’ Union (UCSU) aims to assist, stand by, and advocate for you during your time in the university. When you register with UoC, you are automatically enrolled as a member of UCSU.

Students’ union works as a separate charity governed by seven elected officers, ensuring that every student gets an optimal experience in the university during lectures and all other activities.

What We Can Do for You

As a member of UCSU, you belong to a community that:

  • Strengthens your advocacy both at the University and on a national level
  • Empowers you to meet people through student-led groups, networks, and events
  • Gives you free welfare and academic advice independently
  • Champions your concepts for campaigns, volunteering, and leadership positions

Make a Difference

UCSU truly is a ‘students-run’ organization. Here are some of the many ways you can actively participate and influence change:

  • Enhance your course by becoming a Course Rep
  • Run for Part-Time or Full-Time Officer in UCSU elections
  • Create or join a Student Group that aligns with your interests
  • Become a member of the Trustee Board and influence the strategic direction of UCSU
  • Pitch an idea and make a proposal for change

Your Participation is Important

Here’s how change is made by UCSU.

  • Every year, 7 Officers and 10 Campus Reps are elected.
  • Class Reps aggregate feedback for more engaging academics.
  • Student input is a constant.
