I propose that our college refectories across all campusus should cease to offer single-use plastics. No more plastic knives and forks! No more plastic lids on coffee cups! No more Styrofoam take away trays!

There are more and more alternatives that are better for the environment, better for OUR FUTURE. 

Used once to stir your coffee; that spoon lasts for decades! 

Putting it into the recycling bin does not give a totally satisfactory solution either. 

In fact the university does not recycle Styrofoam, even though STYROPACK states "STYROPACK will take back clean Styrofoam and reuse it in New products."

Yes, there may be a financial cost passed on to the consumer but that outweighs the environmental cost.

Please sign my petition to bring this matter to commity and hopefully make the University of Cumbria a shining example.
