Blackburn Youth Zone provides the youth, somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to.
The affordability of the building, as well as its central location, allows young people from the area to access facilities, such as a fully equipped multi gym, sport hall with climbing wall, arts and crafts area, dance studio, recreational games (including; pool, snooker, table tennis and more), outdoor astroturf pitch and musical instruments and equipment.
The young people within the community are also given opportunities to take part in project work or educational qualifications, such as sports leaders courses and radical tackling workshops, which help progress their personal, social and educational development.
This is an opportunity for anybody interested in sports to work with professional sports coaches to deliver sports activites to young people in a state of the art venue.
Continued comittment in sports coaching will allow you to work with Blackburn Rovers Community Trust towards reward goals including football league match tickets and contribution towards cost of coaching courses.
Sports you will be able to help deliver include mainstream sport such as; tennis, basketball, football, dodgeball, benchball, boccia, badminton, volleyball, handball, cricket, hockey, netball and rounders. We also deliver inclusive wheelchair sport for all to get involved, roller disco, skateboarding, archery and rock climbing.
Our sessions take place over the evenings and weekends and school holidays. You will be delivering activites in specific age groups or targetted groups. We work with young people as young as 5 to as old as 25.
This is an ideal opportunitity for University of Cumbria students on sports related courses or anybody with a passion for sport. Taking up this opportunity is a perfect chance to bolster your CV or complete some volunteering hours.
