Oxfam's network of over 650 shops is run by 23,000 volunteers and shop managers. Through the sale of donated goods and new products the shops contribute millions of pounds each year to help fund Oxfam's crucial work.

The till operator role is an exciting opportunity for someone to gain and develop retail experience to raise money for Oxfam's goal to end world poverty. Till operators work on a till serving customers and give customer service on the shop floor. For example helping them look for a specific item they would like.

  

The morning shift is 9am-1pm and the afternoon shift is 1pm-5pm Monday - Saturday

 

If you enjoy being in a busy environment and like dealing with different people, this role could be just right for you.

 

The role involves the following: 

  • Being polite and friendly with good customer service skills
  • Using a computerised till system that has a barcode scanner
  • Packing and wrapping purchases
  • Taking payments
  • Able to work well in a team
  • Tidying the shop floor when not busy
  • Pricing donated goods on the till

Skills and competencies:

  • An enthusiasm for Oxfam's work and helping others get involved is important
  • Ability to work within the Oxfam’s guidelines and values
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Honesty, integrity, commitment and reliability
