Young Addaction deliver drug and alcohol services throughout Lancashire (excluding Blackpool and Blackburn). We aim to deliver an accessible, young person friendly service which focusses on a variety of needs. We are offering an integrated early intervention, prevention, treatment and community engagement service for young people up to 25 years. The new service is commissioned in partnership with the Public Health Department within Lancashire County Council.
As part of our service we:
With bases in Preston, Lancaster and Burnley, we will be available for drop-in and appointments with the continued in-reach service delivered in schools, YOTs and wider community / partner venues. Our service will be responsive to the local needs of young people so will operate during evenings and weekends as required, with on-going input from our young people to drive new ideas and improvements forward.
One-to-One Work with Clients
Meeting with clients on a 1-1 basis offering support on a range of issues e.g. harm reduction, drugs and alcohol information, parental substance misuse, emotional health and wellbeing. This involves assessment and care planning, completed jointly with a Young Persons Worker.
Group Work
To deliver group work in school, colleges, youth clubs, with other professionals, parents, foster carers on the dangers and risks of substance misuse on individuals and the wider community. Depending on confidence levels, the size of the groups can range from 3-60 people; additional training is available.
Community Events: Stalls/Health Fairs
We have requests from other agencies and school to attend various different events in the community to promote our service e.g. healthy lifestyles, drug and alcohol awareness, domestic abuse. This helps to advertise Young Addaction and the support we can offer to the wider community.
Outreach/Diversionary Activities
To provide regular outreach for communities that might not have access to local services. Complete targeted work approaching young people to engage them in conversations relating to their safety and increase awareness of services Young Addaction provides.
Recovery Focus
Supporting our Young People’s Workers in providing additional groups and/or activities for peer mentors or young people who are working towards exiting our service. Also includes fundraising for Young Addaction Lancashire.
Administration
Encompasses all aspects of service administration including; data in-putting, general house keeping, filing and letter writing etc. This is an opportunity to improve on skills relevant to any role.
Community Engagement
To help with general administrative support and office duties, support setting up and staffing projects/groups within the local community.
