Circles build safer communities through local volunteers working with sex offenders to minimise alienation, support, reintegration and so prevent sexual re-offending. A Circle is a group of 4 or 5 volunteers who meet on a regular basis with a high risk sex offender (known as the core member) to provide responsible opportunities for safe and constructive reintegration into the community. It works on the basis of providing support and holding the core member accountable for their actions. This could be help to work on issues identified in treatment, emotional support and guidance, a listening ear, a safe place, help to remain accountable for their actions, constructive challenges, help in building a wider group of social contacts and building appropriate and safe relationships, or practical help in areas such as employment and housing.
All volunteers undergo comprehensive training with Circles and receive ongoing support and regular professional supervision. Volunteers should be aged over 21 and have an enhanced DBS Certificate (which we can apply for on a volunteer's behalf). If you are under 21 but you are interested in volunteering with us, please do get in touch.
We also provide mentoring for adult who have committed sexual offences and a programme of mentoring, assessment, intervention and groupwork for young people displaying harmful sexual behaviour. Volunteers on these programmes receive additional training.

Mentors provide support and encouragement to young people who have displayed harmful sexual behaviour. They work with an individual young person to model apporpriate behaviour and attidtudes, to develop pro-social relationships and activities, to reduce stigma nd social isolation and create a safe space for them to explore their future.
Intervention:
CROPT provide bespoke intervention packages for young people who sexually harm but have not been convicted of sexual offences. This intervention is delivered by a paid member of CROPT staff but is supported by volunteers. Sessions are designed to reduce risk, address harmful sexual behaviour, to build on the strengths of each young person and to equip them with the skills to live a healthy and safe life.
