Because you can

As a University of Cumbria student you automatically have the right to vote in the elections, so why waste your vote when you could be having your say on the future of your experience at UoC?! You don't have to know anything about politics or even UCSU; you just get to the pick people who you would like to represent you.

Because it’s quick, easy and painless:

Voting takes up less time than watching an episode of your favourite TV programme - it only takes a couple of minutes. You don’t even have to register or get to a polling station, all you have to do is click on the e-voting link which will be sent by UCSU to your University email address, and then choose who you want to vote for. It's that easy.

Because change happens:

Student officers have made important changes to your student experience at UoC, like working with the University to get Rigg Cottage opened as a social space on Ambleside campus, cutting the amount of time it takes to get feedback on assessed work, and increasing the number of plug sockets on the Fusehill campus. By voting in these elections, you are having your say on the changes that you would like future officers to make that will improve your time at University of Cumbria.

Because nothing is perfect:

Even if you think that there's nothing you'd like to change at UoC, there will always be something that could make your time here better. Student Officers represent your views so they can make your time at UoC better. Make sure you vote for the people who you want to be talking on your behalf.

Because all the candidates’ information is available online:

If you don't know anything about any of the candidates running there are loads of ways to find out more about them! We have all the information you need about each of the officers and their manifestos available online.

It gives you the right to moan:

Everybody likes a good moan. Be it the weather, under-performing sporting teams or that there’s never anything good on TV! However if you don't vote in the elections then you can't moan about what the officers have done or not done to represent you. So go on, vote in the elections, and have a good moan!

UCSU is for all students:

UCSU exists to represent every single student at UoC. It's not just for student groups and course reps, it's for you. So make UCSU what you want it be by picking the officers who you want to lead your union.

So that you get the right Student Officers:

The officers will be leaders of UCSU and so can directly influence your experience of the students' union. Make sure you pick the people who'll make your union as good as it can be. By voting you're having your say on who you think will be the right people for the job.

Because you could get free food!

That's right. If you vote at one of our voting booths on your campus, you could get free cake, pizza or take part in an organic fruit and veg tasting session as part of Fairtrade Fortnight!

There are no good reasons not to vote:

We can't think of a good reason to not vote, and we’ve already given you plenty of reasons why you should. So don’t let us down, use your vote today!

Voting opens at 9am on Monday 27th February and will remain open until 5pm on Wednesday 8th March. Election results will be announced on the evening of Friday 10th March. You can book your tickets to the event online.
