Pride this year saw the arrival of students from across the different university campuses. Students gathered at the Fusehill St campus on Saturday 28th of September for a networking event that aimed to expand the LGBTQ+ students' awareness of each other and lay the first bricks of an LGBTQ+ Networking Student Group.

Students were treated to a speech from LGBTQ+ Rep Bethany who made it a part of her manifesto to ensure that there were more networking events and opportunities for students this year. Hairspray, glitter and rock painting were next on the agenda before our lovely staff team and Welcome Helpers guided the students to the start of the parade in the town centre down to the historic Carlisle Castle where the day's events were taking place!

Guests were treated to performances on the centre stage, able to sample local food and drink, gain advice and information from stallholders and purchase a lot of rainbow-themed merchandise.

Even the weather was celebrating as the terrible rainy conditions gave way to bright and clear skies. Pride is a celebration of what makes every individual what they are as well as a reminder of how much progress has been made and what there is left to do to achieve true equality.
