The Conservation Society in Ambleside has been very active and engaged in a wide variety of projects in the past year, In recognition of their efforts, we submitted an application for the society to be entered into the North West Awards, a prestigious Awards night which celebrates the activities of a wide range of charities in the North West of the county.

With entries from all sorts of higher calibre charities, we were amazed and proud to receive confirmation that the society had been shortlisted for the Award!!

On Friday 27th September, we attended the Awards Night at the Principal Hotel in Manchester. In splendid surroundings, this was a well attended glitzy evening and it was a privilege just to be there with so many worthwhile organisations...little did we know that the society would receive a High Commendation for their work!

"When the time came for our results, we were all shocked and delighted to be announced the winner of the highly commended award. The walk up to the stage felt instant, all the hard work we poured our efforts into all seemed to pay off at once and filled us all with pride of a job well done!" (Dylan Turner, Conservation Society) 

We are proud of the society's achievements and are really pleased that these have been acknowledged in a wider context - well done guys!!

We also happen to think, and I am sure that you concur, that, within our groups, the commitment that students show in engaging in volunteering, planning and delivering activities, aside from their studies, and their determination to bring their passion to good use within their communities, is notable and makes them a special group of people!
