The University of Cumbria would not be the same place without the staff and students who make the student experience what it is. The Success Awards are designed to showcase best practice and outstanding contributions to an excellent student experience at the University of Cumbria. 

A list of the different categories can be seen below, along with the shortlisted submissions for 2017.

Lecturer of the Year Award

This award is for a University of Cumbria Lecturer who has made a significant contribution to the student experience, through assessment and feedback practices, innovative teaching methods, responding to student’s experiences and teaching styles and offering support to students through difficulties.

Most Creative Teaching Award

This award is for a University of Cumbria Lecturer, who has put time and effort in to making lectures more creative. This could include thinking out of the box to make some of the most difficult lectures easier to understand or by making learning fun.

Community Award

This award is for a member of the University or wider community who has contributed to the student experience or helped make a substantial positive difference to a community in which our students live.

Representative of the Year Award

This award is for a Student Academic Representative and/or a UCSU Panel Member who has made a positive contribution to the student experience.

Volunteer of the Year Award

This award is for a student who has made a contribution to the lives of others, for example giving their time to take part in community projects, help local organisations or care for the environment.

Out of Sight Award

This award recognises the contribution to the student experience from those people who work behind the scenes to make the university experience a positive one for students.

This could be a student who has excelled in their studies or has overcome challenges to continue with their studies or to return to education.

Student Group Member of the Year Award

This award is for a student group member that has gone above and beyond the call of duty for the student group in which they are a member.

Student Support Staff Award

This award recognises non-academic staff who work with and/or for students to support them during their time at university.

Research Project of the Year Award

This will be awarded to the individual for research that has the potential to show educational, economic, social, and/ or cultural influences or other public benefit. Open to all final year Bachelors, Masters or Doctoral Students who have excelled in their research study. Submissions will be accepted from students or their supervisors.
