Freshers’ week is just around the corner and we want you all to have the best time when you go out in the evenings, but we also want you to be safe!

Here are our top ten tips to stay safe on a night out. Look after each other, be safe and have an excellent time!

1. Never leave your drink unattended and keep an eye on your friends' drinks

2. Don't accept a drink from someone you don't know

3. Consider sticking to bottled drinks and avoiding punch bowls or jugs of cocktails

4. If you think your drink has been tampered with, don't drink it – tell a trusted friend or relative immediately

5. Don't give out your address to someone you've just met

6. Before going out, let someone know where you're going and what time you expect to be home

7. Make plans for your journey home

8. Travel home with someone else and let someone know once you are back safe

9. Avoid taking expensive equipment with you or anything that could be a target for thieves

10. Ensure your mobile phone is charged and is in credit. Keep the money you need to get home separate, so that you don’t spend it.
