BUCS TABLE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2013

As you know it was the BUCS University Championships this weekend. I was seeded number 10 for the men's singles competition and there was a really strong entry with some of Britain's top players and 248 entries in the men's alone!

On the Saturday was the group stage were I played a Chinese student that was studying at Southampton, a player from Cambridge university and a player from Lincoln, I won all of my games 3-0 and won my group putting me into the knockout's.

I had a bye in the first round as I was one of the seeds putting me into the last 64. In the last 64 I played a player from Lancaster university, I won 3-1, putting me into the last 32 were I had to play an Egyptian student studying at Sunderland university who was last year's Semi-Finalist. I got off to a great start winning the first set comfortably and a good start to the second. The pivotal moment in the match was me losing an easy point to win the 2nd game and to go 2-0 up and would of surely put me through to the last 16 however luck wasn't on my side and the Egyptian player played really well and I lost 3-1.

So overall was quite a disappointing result for the weekend as I was wanting to bring a medal home for the University of Cumbria, maybe next year with a bit of luck in the draw I might miss out the (bandits) foreign exchange students that are unranked and hopefully get a medal.
