Hello All!

Looking back

What a first Semester we have had, we have gone from 0 to 26 members! Running events from campfire socials, to going on trips and many more! For those who completed the survey, we have adjusted some of our upcoming sessions to facilitate your requests.

Going forward

Welcome Back! Hope you had a great time away and a happy new year! We have had a slightly reduced budget for this semester events from the SU, so we have had to change a few things, although we have a pretty jam-packed semester ahead for you all.

Semester 2 Discount

As some of you may have realised & remember from last year, it is that time of the year for our Semester 2 Membership. For the remainder of the year, memberships are only £10! This covers the insurance and ensures we can run FREE sessions & discount the tickets to our priced events.

Bushcraft Campout

We are also looking to do a joint camp out with the Outdoor Society from the University of York in April. We will be putting on a range of activities as well as the possibility to work with outdoor professionals and go on self-led journeys from the camp site. Sleeping arrangements would be camping based, and meals will be cooked in a group basis. If you are interested in coming along, register your interest with one of the committee members.

Next year’s committee

As you may know, this year will be the last year for some of our committee members who have been with us for 2 years! With this in mind, we are looking to also recruit individuals to take on those roles. The current roles available would be:

Chair/Co-Chair

Deputy Chair / Co-Chair

Treasurer

Session Leaders

We will be hosting a thankyou & farewell event at the bushcraft campout to commemorate the input of those leaving the committee and to welcome the new committee members.

For next year, Elena & Charlie won the committee with Bush taking a step back from the Co-Chair position. If you would like to register your interest or find more information do not hesitate to contact us. (We will be hosting a bushcraft skills course for ALL new committee members during semester 3, upon successful completion, attendees will hold a level 2/3 qualification in bushcraft)

Session & Trip Ideas

Lastly, we are looking for ideas for next semesters activities/trips & more importantly the end of year trip.
