Every February/March, we run elections to select the Union's new leadership. This is made up of current and recent students of the University of Cumbria and their job is to guide the Union in its activity, and to represent your interests within the Union and the University.
📚 Academic Officer (Full-Time, 35hrs pw, £23205)
Fixed term 01/07/26 to 30/06/27 - a second term of office is possible, if re-elected
Champion academic achievement for all! As Academic Officer, you will gather students' views and explore their experiences of teaching, assessment, feedback and support. This will allow you to identify any potential barriers to learning which can then be analysed and discussed with University staff and potentially be removed for future generations of students. You will monitor academic regulations to make sure they are fair and appropriately applied and most importantly that they are understood by all students. If you are passionate about academic study and learning , this is the role for you!
💚 Wellbeing Officer (Full-Time, 35hrs pw, £23205)

Wellbeing is key to academic success. As Wellbeing Officer, you will link with students at different campuses and studying off-campus to find out about their experiences of University. This will help you lead appropriate welfare campaigns, run relevant wellbeing events and will help you champion the wellbeing needs of students studying at Cumbria. If you have an interest in improving student lives, this is your role!
🏫 Institute Officer (Part-Time, 0.5 FTE, 17.5 hrs, £11602)
Fixed term 01/07/26 to 30/06/27 - a second term of office is possible, if re-elected
Enhance the power of reps! As Institute Officer, you will be working closely with class reps and UCSU's Student Representation Coordinator to design and provide training for reps and to make sure that they have all the tools they need for their roles. You will have oversight of topics raised by the reps and this will enable you to identify common trends that can then be discussed with appropriate University staff or at formal academic meetings. So if your goal is to make a real difference to how courses are run and delivered, this is the role for you!
🌟 Mature Students' Officer (Part-Time, term-time only, 8hrs pw, £12.75 per hour)

Stand up for students returning to education! As the Mature Students' Officer, you’ll be the voice for mature students, tackling the unique challenges they face and making sure they feel included and supported. You’ll build networks, campaign for accessible services, and help shape a university experience in which every mature student can thrive. If you’re ready to take the challenge, this is your role!
🌐 Online Learners' Officer (Part-Time, term-time only, 8hrs pw, £12.75 per hour)
Fixed term 14/09/26 to 21/05/27
Be the voice for students learning remotely! As Online Learners' Officer, you’ll identify what affects learning when studying remotely and improve access to resources and services that are relevant to remote learners. You’ll help build a connected, inclusive remote community in which every distance student can feel a part of. If you’re ready to make a differece to the remote learning experience at Cumbria, this is your role!
🎉 Social Officer (Part-Time, term-time only, 8hrs pw, £12.75 per hour)

Be the life of the student community! As Social Officer, you’ll plan events, campaigns, and activities that bring students together, celebrate uni life, and make sure there’s something for everyone. From on-campus socials to online hangouts, you’ll create fun, inclusive, and memorable experiences that help everyone feel connected. If you love making things happen and bringing people together, this is your role!
🌈 EDI Officer (Part-Time, term-time only, 8hrs pw, £12.75 per hour)

Be the voice for equality, diversity, and inclusion! As EDI Officer, you’ll champion student voices, raise awareness of key issues, and help create a campus where everyone feels valued, supported, and included. You’ll drive campaigns, influence university decisions, and make sure every student has the opportunity to thrive. If you’re passionate about fairness and making a real difference, this is your role!
