UCSU is deeply saddened by the news of the death of a 22-year man following an incident at the Glow Room nightclub in Lancaster on Saturday 11th June. Our sincerest condolences are offered to the friends and family of the deceased and to all affected by this tragic event.

While we currently understand that the incident did not involve University of Cumbria student or take place on the Skint Mondays’ student night, UCSU has taken the decision to withdraw our involvement with Glow Room at this time. We feel this is in the best interests of our members and will allow a full investigation into the matter to be conducted by the police.

UCSU takes a zero-tolerance approach to violence of all forms, including drink spiking and sexual violence. If these issues have affected you in relation to your time at the University of Cumbria you can raise concerns to studentvoice@cumbria.ac.uk. We strongly advise that any suspected criminal activity is reported to the Police as soon as possible.

If you have been impacted or affected by this or any other incident on a night out please seek support through the University Health & Wellbeing Service which can be accessed here: https://my.cumbria.ac.uk/Student-Life/Health-and-Wellbeing/
