What is an NUS Delegate?

Student Academic Representatives you may have looked at the roles up for grabs in our elections and thought they were a bit much - interesting but not something you can commit to right now. Let's be honest we are all more than a little stressed right now.

Well I have good news for you. We have another role open in our elections which you may not have heard about: NUS Delegate!

Every year, (nearly) every Students' Union at (nearly) every University and College sends a group of delegates to the National Union of Students' National Conference. Normally an exciting couple of days away, it is due to be online (unsurprisingly) this year.

So from 6th - 8th April 2021, two students will take part in discussions, votes, and elections on behalf of the entire student population of University of Cumbria to shape the National Union of Students' work and priorities for the coming year (including the election of NUS President).

The NUS are a powerful organisation, representing all FE and HE students in the UK, and have a lot of sway over parliament and national policy discussions. As a result, the conference is the perfect place to get your representative teeth stuck into the big issues.

If you are interested, please nominate yourself before 12pm (midday) Friday 5th Feb. Yes, that's Friday THIS WEEK!

Just go to: www.ucsu.me/nominate, login, and submit that nomination.

For more info about the role, you can read the role description: NUS Delegate Role Description

For more info about the conference, please see here or here or read about last year's conference here or here
