Congratulations on starting at UoC. Whether you are studying on or off campus, we are your Union and our services are automatically open to all University of Cumbria students. We are very excited to have you as part of the team!
On this page, you will find your one-stop shop for everything you will need for your first few weeks at university. If you have any questions that aren’t answered here, please email us at student.union@cumbria.ac.uk, and we will be able to point you in the right direction.
Often, one of the best experiences people have at university is being a member of a student group, society or network. Here at UCSU, we have a large number of groups that cover a wide range of interests and are across all campus locations. Have a look through all of them here, and if you don’t see something you are interested in and have an idea for setting up a society, get in touch with us at studentgroups@cumbria.ac.uk
Hopefully, all your time spent at university will be brilliant; however sometimes things go a little wrong, which is why we have a free and impartial Support Team waiting to assist you in any way that they can.
The team can help with matters such as appeals, malpractice, extenuating circumstances, complaints, fitness to practise and more. If you ever need the team’s help you can book an appointment at the link below.
At UoC you are represented by the UCSU Executive Team. The team is made up of democratically elected Officers led by the Academic Officer, the Institute Officer and the Wellbeing Officer and they are your voice within the university. At course level, you are also represented by your class reps, who are students are elected to represent your cohort. Finally, if you have an idea or concern you would like to see the Executive Team tackle, then please submit it to the Thought Bubble.
Been a while since you have been on campus? Missed your Open Day or just want to take a peek at your new home? You can find video tours of the main UoC campuses at the links below.
Below you will find links to some of the useful things to have quick access to while getting to know UoC. If what you need is not listed below, please feel free to email us at student.union@cumbria.ac.uk
