Fell Foot Learning Volunteer
About organisation / project
This is an exciting time to get involved with us as at Fell Foot, as we are embarking on the development of a major project to establish Fell Foot as an all year round, flagship outdoor destination for the National Trust. We are entering a crucial phase in the Project, with our new Active Base (a unique clubhouse and changing facility to enable more people to get active outdoors and closer to nature) about to go live. Jointly funded by Sport England, our ambition is to put Fell Foot on the map as an entry level outdoor destination, a place where you can safely experience a wide variety of sports before taking your newly learnt skills into the wider Lake District. We have also just received a grant from the Heritage Lottery, which will enable us to restore key elements of the park, including the Grade 2 listed gothic boathouse complex (one of the largest surviving in the Lake District), allowing access to areas with beautiful architecture currently closed off to the public and creating an indoor, all-weather, programmable space in the current cafe. We will also be reinstating the arboretum, restoring the wider landscape and historic pathways whilst improving visitor access and engaging our visitors with Fell Foot’s fascinating stories.
By getting involved you could:- help children and young people learn through practical sessions; Share your knowledge and enthusiasm with younger visitors – inspiring the next generation; Use your communication skills to deliver to varied groups; Join an enthusiastic and varied team.
This role will suit you if you are:- Full of enthusiasm and excited about telling stories; Have a passion for Fell Foot, it's heritage and nature; Someone who enjoys working with children and young people; Friendly and ready to answer questions - you never know what you’ll be asked!; Keen to discover more about Fell Foot; Available at least once a week; This role will require a criminal record disclosure and/or vetting through the Independent Safeguarding Authority.
